Hi Guys of the Comando G… I’m here writing to you while away for a long time to share with you a new project.I found a DW-8800 Codename with a stripped screw on the case so i planned to make some modding on it.

First of all i fixed the stripped screw hole like i learned from the WUS member BaNZ tutorial. Thanks to the BaNZ DW-6900 stripped hole repair tutorial and photos from WUS.

PCB Board dust

put some dust inside the case hole

then push some superglue (attak) inside the hole , let it dry and practice a new little hole with dremel drilling out the fixed case

first step for me… removing the writings from the bezel (Stealthing) with some chemical product.

On the DW-8800 will work the DW-9052 bezel. They are a little too tight so pay attention to don’t brake some button.
strip down the DW-8800 because without the strap you will work better and freely.

for reference for the spring place inside the DW-8800 module

container test
http://i58.tinypic.com/24fa1wy.jpg
take out the module from the watch case
http://i62.tinypic.com/2vxejok.jpg
place your G-shock inside a container cutted for that purpose
http://i57.tinypic.com/dolwqw.jpg
fill the case for about 3/4 with cold silicon oil 10w (not warmed up)
http://i57.tinypic.com/b7awcl.jpg
place the module inside the case and let it go down under it’s own weight without pushing it because you don’t want to generate extra air bubbles
http://i58.tinypic.com/28sr9tv.jpg
when the module will not be go anymore under the oil push it with the wodden toothstick in order to get it reach the maximum depth inside the case. After doing that put some extra oil drop gently in order to have the module completely submerged in silicon oil.
Now , put the oring in place in the right way matching the spot on the case channel to the lip that you see on the oring.Replacement o-ring coming from a DW-9052 will work on a DW-8800 too.

After that, place the backplate with the 4 little screws already in place on the watch matching the spring coming out of the module with the right spot on the caseback.Push the backplate on the case and tighteen the 4 screws gently and firmly.
wash the watch in moderately hot water with dish soap
http://i61.tinypic.com/6sqhz8.jpg
you can wash it and brushing it with an old toothbrush while disassembled too

Now put all the pieces all togheter keeping in mind to not have rush and doing it gently without forcing the parts.
Please leave a little bubble to prevent damage due to thermal dilatation of the oil.In Though solar G-Shocks this aspect it will be more important because the solar panel inside them will increase much more the temperature while them are exposed to the sunlight.
Additional modding was removing the wings or flaps underneath the DW-8800 strap.

In order to do that you’ll need to replace the longer screws that held in place both the bezel and flaps with others shorter screws.
DW-8800 screws (the same like the screws on DW-9052)
http://i59.tinypic.com/adnf9z.jpg
Shorter screws can come from a DW-5600E.Notice that the screws coming from DW-5600C like you see in this photo won’t work because they are different from the screws coming from a DW-5600E.

shorter screws from a DW-6600 or DW-6900 will do the job.

Final result DW-8800 Codename Hydro, Stealth and without wings or flaps.
