En toda la zona del sudoeste de USA existe una muy fuerte presencia de la cultura hispánica. Muchas artes traídas por las sucesivas corrientes migratorias de diferentes partes de España ha hecho que con el paso de los siglos algunas técnicas tradicionales ibéricas se fusionen con la de los pueblos originarios dando lugar a una revitalización y adecuación de las antiguas técnicas con otras formas autóctonas de trabajo, pensar y vivir.
Luego de 4 siglos el arte tradicional español sigue vivo en el sudoeste de este país.
Hay un mercado anual que reúne a los grandes artesanos y artistas estadounidenses de la filigrana, los bultos, santería, tallado de madera, tallado de hueso, telar manual, retablos, repujado de laton y otros metales, cerámica, pintura sobre pellejo, enhebradores de colcha, aplicaciones de paja, modelaje de troncos y piedras y otras artes españolas tradicionales.
La gran mayoría de los artistas participantes tienen ascendencia española, viven en el Estado de Colorado o New Mexico y tienen a su arte como medio de vida.
